Good information that we should all try to keep in mind.
One night during the darkest time of my life, I fell asleep watching teevee with my cat, Jazz. (Princess Jazomine, if you need the full formal name. She had a red collar and an attitude to match.) At 11 p.m., I was startled by a knock at the apartment door.
“Pizza delivery!” my dear friend said. Okay, she may or may not have said those exact words. She did have a veggie pizza from John Dough’s – that detail I can remember – and it was clear that I should eat. So we ate. Broke bread, maybe drank some wine, or some stout.
Then: Mom was dying from cancer, I was going through a divorce, and the newsroom was under new management. This, they say, is the Big 3 of stress. Bonus points: severe clinical depression.
That pizza was the best thing anyone could possibly have delivered in the darkness…
